Celebrities and their duffle coats
We all know that celebrities (with their personal dressers) are somewhat fashionable. Many young girls open up magazines and decide that they want a dress like Beyonce’s or a handbag like Paris Hiltons. But it’s not just the young girls who are inspired by celebrity style, ladies of all ages, including myself, buy many a fashion magazine in order to find what it is that is ‘fashionable’ for that particular season. After all the celebrities copy it off the catwalk, and nine times out of ten, we copy it off the celebrities.
There is one celebrity in particular that has got me smiling, brimming in fact with their choice of attire this week. The celebrity is question is Black Swans Natalie Portman!
A glowingly pregnant Natalie Portman stepped out on the streets of New York earlier this week in a navy ladies duffle coat. This isn’t the first time the actress has been spotted out in the favourite coat; however, she has worn it on many occasions since she revealed the news that she was expecting. To be honest, it has barely left her back since she has been pregnant. Perhaps this is because it is ideal for keeping her, bump and baby warm, or perhaps it’s because it covers up her ever growing baby bump well. Whatever the reason, we salute you Miss Portman, we like your style!
Natalie teamed her duffle coat with a casual pair of black trousers, a comfy pair of trainers and a fashionable pair of sunglasses. She had her hair demurely tied back and was fresh faced.
Natalie Portman’s Duffle Coat is almost identical to the navy ladies duffle coats that we offer here at Duffle Coats UK, so why not be bang on trend this season, follow Natalie Portman’s lead and get yourself one?

Duffle coats, a necessity for winter
I know we have only just entered spring, however I am going to retract slightly, or fast forward depending on how you see it, and speak about the great duffle coat and how necessary it is for those cold winter months!
The most important thing a man needs during the cold winter months is a good, warm coat. Those men who think that they can do without a coat should think twice before the winter starts, after all being cold in the winter can lead to colds, flu’s and even the dreaded man flu. You see these coats are manufactured using wool, a raw material that is considered to be warmer than cotton.
As well as being a necessity during the winter months, the duffle coat is also a must have for spring showers, summer down pours and autumn winds.
At the same time as being a great all-season round coat, the duffle coat is also a classically fashionably item of clothing. Duffle coats have forever been a classic item of clothing and let’s face it; they are never going to go out of fashion now are they? From children wearing them throughout their childhood, to ladies wearing duffle coats, to men wearing the; there is a duffle coat for everyone.
So there you have it gentleman, here at Duffle Coats UK we believe that the duffle coat is not just a necessity for the winter months as well as the spring, summer and autumn months, but the duffle coat is also a fashion favourite that will always be. You see all you need to do is buy one duffle coat and hey presto you have a classic coat that will last you a lifetime as well as offer you that fashionable edge. but don’t just take our word for it, find out for yourself with our collection of duffle coats!

The Duffle Coat and my father
My father is renowned for his stories; fond stories of mine and my brother’s childhood, exaggerated stories about his teenage years, proud stories of his father during the war and so on; he is basically one big story book. Although, we usually screw our faces up when my father tells another one of his stories (usually because we have already heard it before), one story my father told the other day really stuck in my mind and I thought it necessary to share it with you!
The story began with my dad talking about how much he admired his father’s Duffle coat that he wore during the First World War. To be fair, before the war all coats were for function, and as much as the duffle coat was also for function, it was the first coat to be introduced to the troops that was less formal and more useful for all weather conditions. Anyhow, my father continued to speak about how much he wanted his very own duffle coat, begged his parents for one, yet never got one.
Not until he was in his teens that was. But he wasn’t just brought any old duffle coat, he was handed his fathers, my father’s duffle coat. The coat which came with many a tale of pride and survival, the coat which, to this day, my father treasures so much that it has not been worn out of the house.
You see, the duffle coat today is seen as a classically traditional fashion accessory, however, to my father, the duffle coat means much, much more. It stands for bravery, it stands for love and it also comes with many a tale and many a fond memory. My father often recalls the ore he felt when my grandfather returned home from duty in his duffle coat. It was a man’s coat, a classic coat and of course it was my granddads coat!

One day, two totally different outfits
As we all know, the British weather can be a tad temperamental. This is perhaps why I have seen one lady in shortest skirt possible and a vest top as well as a lady in a duffle coat and jeans all in one day. Or perhaps it’s because the lady in her duffle coat is actually from the Antarctic or somewhere severely cold.
Whatever the reason for such dress differences, it just shows that none of us trust the British weather and why not, after all who wants to go out without their coat to then be caught in a sudden down pour of rain?
I am a classic example for this, when the other day me and my boyfriend decided to go on a romantic picnic on (what we thought) was a lovely sunny day. We had got ourselves all dressed in our summer attire, picnic at the ready and sunglasses on; however, as we went to leave the house we spotted a cloud! Shock horror we reverted back to the wardrobe and put a cardigan and jumper on. Then as we actually got ourselves out of the house and in to the car; the sky changed and looked darker, ‘stop’ I yelled, I better get my duffle coat from inside, just in case.
Well that ‘just in case’ actually turned out to be a ‘definite case’ as it started pouring it down with rain. So, we didn’t get round to our picnic after all. I am not complaining though as I got treated to a yummy lunch out instead!
You see its true, no trust in the British weather and after all why should we? This is the same weather that gives us snow in March is it not? So, mu word of advice would be to ensure that you always have your trusty duffle coat with you wherever you go!
